WORK SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

We are a year-round operation; this position requires a flexible schedule to work weekends, holidays, and occasionally after hours for special assignments. Our full-time Sr. Director of Development is a weekly schedule, and the compensation for this position is $78K.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SR. DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

As Senior Director - Development, you are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the development department. The Senior Director - Development is responsible for major gift fundraising and directly supervises the Director of Annual Giving, Major Gifts Officer, and Donor Events Manager.

You must be fully committed to San Antonio Zoo's mission to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wildlife we steward and the animals we protect. You take pride in knowing your hard work makes a difference in wildlife conservation.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SR. DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit administration, business administration, communications, or equivalent training and experience.
  • CFRE preferred.
  • Five to seven years of demonstrated successful fundraising experience.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through, as demonstrated through effective project management experience.
  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills.
  • Outstanding ability to work effectively in teams of diverse people and organizations.
  • Experience working with a donor database, preferably Blackbaud products, as well as with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational, communications, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to accommodate occasional long days or overnight travel.
  • Must adhere to the highest ethical standards, demonstrate an empathetic disposition and perseverance, and convey sensitivity to the needs of donors.
  • Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen.
