As an Enrollment & Administrative Assistant for Will Smith Zoo School, you will help empower children to appreciate, protect, and understand the world around them. We are a year-round operation; this position requires a flexible workday schedule, including occasional weekends and after-hours for special events. The part-time Enrollment & Administrative Assistant position's daily schedule coincides with the 9:30 am to 2:30 pm school day, and the hourly compensation for this position is $13.70.

An Enrollment and Administrative Assistant independently provides enrollment and administrative support, allowing enrollment to function effectively and efficiently. In addition, this position acts as an information source, assisting in matters relevant to the flow and exchange of information across the division.

You must be fully committed to San Antonio Zoo's mission to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wildlife we steward and the animals we protect. You take pride in knowing your hard work is making a difference in wildlife conservation.


  • Proven team player with a positive outlook, confidence, and ability to work effectively and diplomatically with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to communicate concisely and professionally through various avenues, including in-person, remotely (video and telephone), and writing.
  • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in administrative support.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate database management skills, preferably with ProCare.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Mature professional attitude and considerable discretion, including the ability to manage confidential information.
  • Knowledge in the field of outdoor, nature-based, place-based, or early childhood education
  • Inter-culturally fluent and able to execute culturally responsive admissions practices.
  • Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and ability to learn other software platforms.
  • College degree or equivalent experience in education of science-related field.
  • Must be 18 years of age for this role.
  • Knowledge of office management techniques and best practices.
  • Exchange information with leadership and coworkers regularly.
  • As required, attend and complete all San Antonio Zoo and Will Smith Zoo School scheduled meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment Sex Offenders & National background check and drug screening.
