San Antonio Zoo is looking to hire a full-time Culinary Manager to join our zoo family! Do you enjoy the hospitality industry? We are a year-round operation; this position requires a flexible schedule to workdays, weekends, holidays, and occasionally after-hours for special assignments. Hence, our Culinary Manager work schedule, a flexible weekly schedule, and the compensation for this position is $40k.

As Culinary Manager, you will be leading all aspects of the Zoo's F&B operation and the Starbucks Franchise; In particular, a majority of time is spent supervising and directing the workforce, making staffing decisions (i.e., hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, discharging, staffing and scheduling), ensuring customer satisfaction and product quality, to include orders and inventory counts, managing the location's financial performance, and managing safety and within multiple locations. As a Leadership Team member, you will always uphold yourself to the highest level of professionalism and interest in guest service and assistance.

You must be fully committed to San Antonio Zoo's mission to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wildlife we steward and the animals we protect. In addition, it would be best if you took pride in knowing your hard work is making a difference in wildlife conservation.


  • High-volume culinary leadership experience.
  • Possess strong leadership skills with experience managing multiple operations.
  • Customer service experience in a restaurant/coffee shop/theme park environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn other software platforms.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records and compile reports.
  • Orders and verifies upon receipt all food and supply products for the kitchen.
  • Knowledge of local public health requirements related to sanitation and food handling procedures and the ability to conduct a thorough operational and sanitary inspection of each food and beverage outlet.
  • Knowledge of Point of Sales systems and mobile ordering systems preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in food service management or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of responsible leadership experience in management or supervisory positions.
  • Successful completion of the Texas Food Protection Management Program.
  • Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen.
  • Must work in varying climates and weather conditions (rain, snow, hot, or cold).
