As a Park Quality Lead Attendant, you are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Zoo grounds and buildings. You are expected to learn minor mechanical maintenance on job-related equipment. You will have constant direct guest contact and must exhibit awesome guest service at all times.

  • Demonstrate awesome guest service at all times.
  • Assist in training new Park Quality Attendant personnel in the safe operation of leaf blowers, pressure washers, steam cleaners, walk-behind vacuums, and floor buffers.
  • Assist in training Park Quality personnel on the rules, regulations, and proper procedures for the areas of the Zoo.
  • Assist with lunch scheduling.
  • With approval, send Park Quality Attendant home when business is slow.
  •   Operate leaf blowers, pressure washers, and walk behind vacuums.
  •  Change trash bags in trashcans throughout the Zoo.
  •   Use a water hose to cleanse certain areas.
  •   Check lavatories and ensure they are stocked with essential supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, soap. etc.)
  •  Check lavatories and buildings for trash and spot clean.
  • Remove gum off the asphalt and graffiti in public areas to include lavatories.
  •  Report any holes in asphalt or walkways and any other safety hazards.
  •  Clean debris from the tops of buildings and gutters.
  •  Do general mechanical maintenance on the equipment used by the Park Quality personnel.
  •  Order supplies and fills out work request when necessary
  • All other duties assigned by management.


  • We enjoy a year-round operation; you must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional after-hour assignments.
  • Able to understand, foresee, and apply necessary safety precautions applicable to the Zoo environment.
  • Ability to deal effectively and politely with people.
  • Knowledge of the hand tools and simple equipment used in performing assigned jobs.
  • Ability to develop skills in the operation of power equipment used in performing assigned jobs.
  • Ability to perform work tasks while bending, to stand, to kneel, squatting, lifting, twisting, reaching, or sitting.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Able to read, write and understand English
  • Prior experience with floor buffing and cleaning chemicals.

    Normal frequency sensitivity

    Normal frequency selection


Able to perform duties under extreme weather conditions typic to south Texas and extreme working conditions.

Speaking skills must include being understandable when speaking:


    On the telephone or radio


Ability to a wheelbarrow, lift, or pull 50 pounds approximately 10 feet and perform this at least 5 times in succession without danger of injury.
