As a Park Quality Assistant Manager, you will perform a variety of tasks related to ensuring team members properly maintain the cleanliness, safety, and cleaning quality of the zoo. You will have constant direct guest contact and must exhibit awesome guest service at all times.

  • Demonstrate awesome guest service at all times.
  • Assist in training and scheduling employees in Park Quality Attendant team members.
  • Assists in teaching and demonstrating safe work habits to employees
  • Assist in training Park Quality Attendant on the rules, regulations, and proper procedures for their areas of the Zoo.
  • Assist with lunches and lunch schedules.
  • Assist with sending Park Quality Attendant home when business is slow.
  • Check lavatories and buildings for cleanliness.
  • Schedule and coordinate work with other departments for cleaning services.
  • Ensure OSHA standards and subordinates follow city code compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, subordinates, peers, curators, and managers.
  • Assist in training employees on the proper use of equipment, tools, and chemicals; including, but not limited to, pressure washers, leaf blowers, steam cleaners, and floor buffers. 
  • Safely operate zoo vehicles.
  • Guide staff towards improving our customer service skills daily.
  • Work with contractors and/or suppliers to obtain the best prices for services.
  • Work in cooperation with special events organizers.
  • Work unique and catered events.
  • Handle customer complaints, if unable to solve problems, call Park Quality Manager.
  • Oversees Park Quality Attendant in the absence of department managers. Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and productive working relations with fellow employees.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.


  • We enjoy year-round hours for all staff work weekends, holidays, and occasional after-hour assignments.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Able to safely operate motor vehicles and power tools.

    Normal frequency sensitivity

    Normal frequency selection

Other: Able to perform strenuous labor under extreme weather conditions typical of south Texas and extreme working conditions.

Speaking skills must include being understandable when speaking:


    On the telephone or radio


Be exposed to fumes, dust, chemicals, and/or odor. Appropriate PPE issued and used as necessary.
