As Warehouse Stock Clerk, you will perform a variety of tasks related to receiving, cataloging, and delivering merchandise, supplies, equipment, and other sales items and packages received at the warehouse. As you move about the Zoo, you will continuously exhibit an exceptional guest service attitude. Also, an apparent interest in guest assistance, as you will be a part of the safe operation of your department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Prepare requisitions, orders, or other documents for purchasing new or additional stock items.
  • Received, count, sort, and/or weigh incoming articles to verify receipt with order specifications.
  • Complete all food & retail orders accordingly and prepare for delivery.
  • Receive and adequately store incoming food and retail merchandise deliveries.
  • Follow food safety guidelines.
  • Perform stock inventory as required.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly stock room, walk-in refrigerator/freezer, offices, and facilities.
  • Maintain the outside area of the Visitor Services warehouse in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Occasionally receiver and deliver incoming deliveries to various Zoo departments.
  • Pick up and deliver items from/to vendors, stands, and various machines on Zoo grounds.
  • Assist Revenue Managers with timely reconciliation from the Mold-A-Rama, soda, animal food, and penny machines.
  • Complete daily order sheets and fill orders for all food stand throughout the Zoo. Assist in deliveries merchandise to various retail outlets.
  • Constantly exhibit an attitude of service inside and outside of the zoo, showing hospitality to all.
  • Be fully committed to the mission of San Antonio Zoo to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wild world we steward and animals we protect.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or GED Certification.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working in a distribution center or related field.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a clean driving record for vehicle operation.
  • Valid Texas driver's license or obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Forklift Operation Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Food Service Manager Certification or the ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check. 
  • Knowledge of storage requirements for various supplies and materials to include refrigerated storage preferred.
  • Must be able to perform and demonstrate the following:
  1. Safely lift and move heavy objects repeatedly.
  2. Perform heavy manual labor in temperatures typical of south Texas.
  3. Make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy.
  4. Safely operate Zoo vehicles.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • You can lift 30 to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to perform and demonstrate the following:
  1. Stand and walk for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
  2. Climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
  3. Repeatedly lift, carry, push, pull, and handle products with or without a reasonable accommodation
  4. Heights using ladders or lifts to access areas
  5. An environment that has extreme temperatures, humidity, hazardous/loud equipment, and slippery surfaces
  • We are a year-round operation; you must be available to work weekends, holidays, and occasionally after hours.
