As a Banquet Staff, you will perform tasks related to all functions of catering events and management of all public and private Zoo hosted events. As a Banquet Server is responsible for a setting room specifically for each catering event according to Event Packing List (EPL). These events are including but not limited to banquets, picnics, weddings, exclusive member events, and other special catered events. If special events are of interest you, this is a great position of which you will gain great experience. You will continuously exhibit an exceptional guest service attitude and an apparent interest in guest assistance, as you will be a part of the safe operation of these events.

  • Monitor and observe guests dining experience to ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problems.
  • Monitor the buffet line for any spills and clean up promptly to maintain the presentation of the line. On occasion, the banquet server may need to assist the guest by serving beverages to guests.
  • Clean tables or counters after guests have finished dining.
  • Set up food stations or set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or large parties.
  • When necessary stock the banquet line with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
  • Prepare buffet table including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning.
  • Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving.
  • Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.
  • Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.
  • Effective communication with team members to meet guests' needs,  support the operation of the event to ensure success.


  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be eligible and able to pass Food Handlers Certification and TABC Servers Certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Must possess great communications skills.
  • Must exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor when interacting with guests.
  • Operates a register and handles cash and credit card transactions
  • Greet and assists customers while anticipating their needs
  • Adheres to cash handling policies and procedures
  • Knowledgable with necessary arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy.
  • Candidate must have no history of larceny or theft.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • We enjoy year-round hours for all staff, must be available nights, weekends, and after-hours catering events.

    Normal frequency sensitivity

    Normal frequency selection


Able to safely lift 30to 50 pounds from ground to chest level and move objects designated area and move.

Speaking skills must include being understandable when speaking:


    On the telephone or radio
