As a Banquet Staff Setup/Teardown staff is responsible for the setup and breakdown of furniture and other conference materials within the venue rooms of San Antonio Zoo.

  • Inspect cleanliness and working condition of all equipment and supplies to be set up in function area; rectify any deficiencies.
  • Set up rooms and/or break down function areas with designated tables, chairs, staging, dance floor, flipcharts, easels, blackboards, and other equipment as specified by the event packing list and following departmental standards.
  • Set up table linens, skirting, and tabletop items as specified by the event packing list and following departmental standards.
  • Break down the trays of dirty dishes, glasses, and silverware coming from the functions. Sort and place them in appropriate racks, carts, and dollies for transportation to dish wash area.
  • At the end of the event, make sure that all equipment, counters, floors, floor mats, and work areas are washed, cleaned, and properly stored away.
  • Comply with all policies and standard operating procedures of San Antonio Zoo.
  • Adhere to all fire safety, security policies and procedures; reports accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; completes safety training and certifications.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures; ensures clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintains the confidentiality of proprietary information; protects company assets.
  • Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items/surfaces, according to OSHA regulations.


  • High school graduate/equivalent vocational training certificate or work equivalent.
  • Must be available between the hours 5 am to 1 am to accommodate the catering events schedule.
  • Previous experience in a theme park or hospitality industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of various room set-ups and standard equipment involved.
  • Use all cleaning chemical according to SDS and use proper personal protection when using products.
  • Adhere to timelines in completion of set-ups.
  • We enjoy year-round hours for all staff, must be available nights, weekends, and after-hour catering events.
